Week 3: Modeling and Concept Adjustments

This week, the plan is to continue modeling the assets. It was suggested to me that the colors of the shrimp were difficult to see in comparison to the rest of the design, and that I should alter the color scheme to add contrast. Over the weekend, the Atlanta team members, including myself, will be traveling to Savannah for filming.

Current Progress

As of now, I have attached the fins to the fish model and did some cleaning on the topology. Before getting into rigging and texturing, the only thing left to do is UV mapping. While trying to take into consideration the projected timeline, as well as the need for an altered color palette, I opted to replace the mantis shrimp with an apricot vampire crab. The new concept should have greater contrast, while not straying too far from the original color palette, as the crab matches the sunset-like color scheme of the top portion of the board.

The updated skateboard concept. The shrimp is replaced with a crab that is both brightly-colored and more simplistic, allowing for easier modeling and higher visibility.

Upcoming Work

On Friday and Saturday, our sole focus will be recording live action footage. On the days leading up to that, as well as Sunday, I plan on continuing work on my models, starting with more focus on the crab.
